I personally think eating custard is disgusting, I understand where you’re coming from. Despite all temptations, however, I try not to judge those who do eat custard too harshly. Some religious people are vegan because of their faith and would argue it is forbidden. Most things are unsafe if done, well, unsafely – for example, heterosexual sex. Allergies exist, so I think it’s perhaps misguided to state that no one has ever died from eating custard. There are a few distinctions I take from the lifestyles listed: I think those suffering from addiction need help, and the other two are different because there is a lack of consent, which exists the relations we are discussing here.
If someone, who was allergic to custard powder and were vegan due to their religion forbade everyone from eating custard because of those two points, I think people would be a little miffed that someone could take control over their lives for individual reasons.
